Ffxiv Launcher Keeps Crashing
Symtom: Crash occurs during transition into character selection lobby. FFXI works without Windower. Crash symptoms the same regardless of Windower version used. Windower was working on the Windows 8 installation prior to the FFXI March version update. I can submit the Windows 8 WER Crash report, but the GIT site will not permit upload.

I assume all of the following are true:1. You multibox section and make a new section for your main character and set it to true there.i just turned off the Update addon, see if that helps. Yeah, the problem is just the launcher. The way updating works is they launch the Windower Launcher hidden and immediately close it after it checks for new updates (this can actually be done manually by starting the launcher with the -update option).
If you have the Update addon set to AutoUpdate on more than one character, they can start two instances of the launcher at the same time and they interfere with each other while trying to update, causing the error. I put some code in to try and prevent multiple same-time updates, but apparently it's not working too well. I've known about this for a while but honestly just couldn't be bothered to fix it. I'll put it on my to-do list with a low priority. It's not, I've never had it or heard of it.
I did hear of such a crash a long way back (because of the Guildwork plugin), but that crash has been fixed over a year ago. Since then, not a single report of this has come to us, as evidenced by our bug tracker.Anyway, the program isn't crashing, nor is it able to cause a crash of FFXI, as it's completely unrelated. You can even run it when FFXI is not running, even with FFXI not installed. It does nothing to or for FFXI, it sets some Windows internal registry settings, that's all. Read the instructions on how to create crash dumps again carefully, or alternatively give them to one of the many people you talk to who experience the same issue.
